Closing a system
#1
Is there a simple way, when you want to stop trading a particular system, to set it to turn off any new trades but still accept the closing trades?

Yes, you can change the Order Value Range field under the Limits section in your strategy settings to something like 0-0.0001 so that new orders aren't processed. Any closing orders will still be processed correctly.

When I set it to 0-0.0001, it accepted it, but after restarting Alera, the values were rejected. Setting it at 0 to 1 worked.

On the other hand, is there a way that you can enter into a system in the middle of trades with Alera. For example, you want to start trading a new system with Alera and there are some entry signals from several days ago. You want to enter those trades manually, but you then want to have Alera "see" those trades that you entered manually and then exit them automatically on the appropriate exit signal.

Yes, any manual trades you do will show up as 'orphan tickers' in the Account Settings window. You can manually move those tickers to a specific strategy.
